What Causes Hypersomnia

There are a variety of sleep disorders that fall under the category of hypersomnia. Consequently, there are many causes of hypersomnia. Depending on the specific type of hypersomnia sleep disorder that you have your daytime sleepiness may result from a medical condition, a medication, or from sleep deprivation.

Treating Hypersomnia

To treat your hypersomia sleep disorder your doctor may prescribe medication. The use of a CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) mask may also help to treat your hypersomnia sleep disorder by helping you get a better quality of sleep during the night. Changing newly prescribed medications may also be necessary to combat your hypersomnia sleep disorder.
